Langtang Tamang and Sherpa Heritage Trekking trail start from Gatlang tamang village, Chilime tibetan refuge camp, Tatopani(hot spring), Thuman Tamang village and Briddim which lies on the way of Langtang Himal. Briddim offers warm Tamang hospitality at the home-stays run by community members. In addition, visitors can also visit local monasteries of Dukchu Gomba (monastery) chosen as sacred site by the great Tibetan Lama - Guru Rinpoche and Chukla Khnaga Gomba.
Langtang Sherpa/Tamang Trekking trail starts either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim. The trail may end back in Syabrubesi or follow the Langtang trek from Briddim village via Khanjim. Goljung and Gatlang are traditional Tamang villages. While Goljung has ancient monastery, Gatlang set high on a hillside among terraced fields is the Tamang settlement. One can also visit a Tamang monastery and the beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang. From the viewpoint at Bahundanda near these settlements, one can also see a panoramic view of Lantang, Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges.
After the trek of several days, bathing in the hot, healing waters of the natural spring at Tatopani en route from Gatlang to Chilime is an exhilarating experience. Brimdang offers cultural experience at community-run home-stay, while Nagathali in Thuman VDC is surrounded by beautiful views of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Himal ranges. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. Next is Timure on the old trade route to Tibet. A fort at Rasuwagadi in Timure is a historical reminder of the Nepal-Tibet relations that has existed for many centuries. A suspension bridge here links Nepal and Tibet.
DETAIL ITINERARIES
Day 01- Arrival Kathmandu
You will be met by Holidays Destination Trekking and Travel staffs at Airport and transferred to the hotel. The remainder of the afternoon at leisure for you to explore, Kathmandu has more World Heritage sites than any other city in the world. A pre-trek briefing will be given this evening.
Day 02- Drives from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi (1460m.) which takes about 9 hours.
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. You must depart early for the nine hours drive to your starting point at the foot of the Langtang Valley. The road takes a scenic route, climbing high over the ridges to escape the Kathmandu Valley and provides you with a superb panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region that you will soon get familiar with. Stay overnight at a hotel.
Day 03- Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (6 hrs).
Treks going up around 2:30 hrs- Goljung bhanjang view point from there we can view the Langtang, Ganesh himal, Tibetan Himalayan range, after crossing there there another view of Goljung Tamang village, dam of chilime hydro power. The trial continous to forest and gravel road to Gatlang health post, after visiting Parbatikund and an Apple farming then down to the Gatlang Tamang village. There is around 250 house hold of Tamang in the small area. It can be place for study culture. We stay overnight at community guest house.
Day 04- Trek from Gatlang village to Tatopani (7 hrs).
Treks down to Chilime village where we visit Tibetan refugee Camp there we can study Tibetan Culture. After crossing the bridge then we start trek up to hot spring which is called Tatopani in Nepali language. There is hot spring and facility to take bath in different pond for male and female. We stay overnight at teahouse.
Day 05- Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2500m) which takes about 5 hours.
Trek start to up for Thuman village on the way we can view of Chilime village, Goljung village, Ganesh himal, Langtang Lirung etc... Thuman also Tamang Village where we can learn their family life style, marriage culture, this area people are very helpful to each other. We stay overnight at local teahouse.
Day 06- Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2230m) which takes about 6 hours.
Trek down to Chilime River and fallow Chilime River to Syabru Besi. We cross the bridge of Bhote Koshi and starting to walk straight up to Briddim Village. Cross the river and trek up to Briddim tamang village. This is also big Tamang and Sherpa village.
Day 07- Trek from Briddim to Lama Hotel (2340) which takes about 6 hours.
Treks to Sherpa village from there it is good view of Thulo Syabru Village, Lauribinayak and cliff of mountain around Goshainkund. After lunch trek throw the forest cross the way for lama hotel. Lama Hotel is a small area and several lodge/guest house in the langtang river side.
Day 08- Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3330m.) which takes about 7 hours.
We continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the forests. At Ghora Tabela (3000m) the trail comes out from the forest. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. Stay overnight at a local village lodge.
Day 09- Trek from Langtang village to Kyangjin Gompa (3730m.) which takes about 4 hours.
The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. You should arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. It is a dramatic setting with snowy peaks surrounding you in all directions. You can enjoy panoramic views of Kyangjin Ri (4750m.), Tsergo Ri (5000m.), Ganja la (5160m.), Langshi sa- ri (6427m.), Dorji Lhakpa (6430m.), Naya Kang (5844m.), Yala peak (5500m.) and so on. Stay overnight at guest house.
Day 10- Rest this day in Kyangjin Gompa.
It is a day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Tserko Ri [4984m], directly behind the village for a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Stay overnight at a same lodge.
Day 11- Trek from Kyangjin gompa to Lama Hotel (2410m.) which takes about 6 hours.
From Kyangjin gompa we back same route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch you continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Stay overnight at local guest house.
Day 12- Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2130m.) which takes about 6 hours.
We retrace your steps to Thulo Syabru, and then follow a steep path through forest which brings in to the view Syabru village and its extensive area of millet terraces. A surging path brings you to this fascinating village. This is big Tamang village in this area and there is one local monastery too. Stay overnight at a local village guest house.
Day 13- Trek from Thulo syabru to Dhunche(1951m) which takes about 6 hours.
From Thulo Syabru it is a trek through dense forests of oak, fir and rhododendron to the small village on the way, after village we down again through the forest. We can view of Syabru Besi, Bharkhu, and Thulo Bharkhu village and road trial like snake at Bharkhu, finally we will be at Thulo Bharkhu and take road trial to Dhunche.Dhunche is beautiful small town. We stay overnight at hotel.
Day 14- Drive back from Dhunchhe to Kathmandu - which takes about 7 hours.
After breakfast, today we take public/tourist vehicle to back Kathmandu. There is army check post and Langtang National Park Headquarter near the Dhunchhe. After that we back Kalikasthan, Betrabati, Trishuli bazaar, Ranipauwa and Kathmandu. We stay hotel at Kathmandu.
Day 15- Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.
Full day’s sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath( both UNESCO World Heritage Site). Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath and visit Patan Durbar square of fine arts. Return to the hotel.
Day 16- Transfer to the Airport for your final departure.
Holidays Destination Trekking and Travel team will take you to the airport for your flight home. On the other hand, if you prefer to stay longer, you can go for short tours such as game drive at National parks, Jungle safari, rafting, Tibet tours, mountain biking etc...
The cost includes the following services:
